Morris Michtom,a candy store owner from Brooklyn,New York made this first teddy bear in 1902 as a tribute to President Theodore Teddy Roosevelt. When he heard that refused to shoot a small helpless bear cubon one of his hunting trips,Michtom decided to name his brown stuffed bears after the president.
